Catalyst Construction Website Expansion
Role:
Lead Creative Designer
Collaboration:
UX strategy support
Overview
I led the creative design and layout of Catalyst Construction’s website expansion, collaborating closely with a UX designer to explore structure and content flow. While UX direction informed early thinking, I was responsible for translating complex requirements and long-form content into a cohesive, engaging visual system across devices.

Approach:
- Owned the layout and visual hierarchy, determining how large volumes of content would be structured on the page
- Used typographic scale, emphasis, and spacing to guide reading flow and reduce cognitive load
- Introduced overlapping and layered elements to create movement and break up long stretches of copy
- Balanced creative expression with usability, ensuring clarity across desktop and mobile views
- Applied UX feedback selectively while maintaining creative control over the final execution
Challenge:
- Designing within an established construction brand
- Using red strategically without overwhelming the experience
- Supporting multiple services and audience segments
- Working with pre-written, long-form copy
- Ensuring dense content felt approachable and scannable—especially on mobile
- Avoiding rigid, boxy layouts common in the industry

Outcome
The final design delivers a modern, confident digital presence that feels both structured and fluid. Complex content is easier to navigate and engage with, and the layout system supports future expansion without sacrificing readability or brand integrity.
